Paprika was a regular spice used in cooking as I grew up in a South Asian family and I still eat this delicious and nutritious spice on a daily basis… sprinkled on eggs, in soups and curries, for example. Recently, I’ve also been using it on my skin! The skin benefits of paprika are endless. It’s antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties can help with acne while its antioxidant effect (paprika is rich in Vitamin C!) can absorb harmful free radicals and enhance collagen production, leaving you with smoother, younger-looking skin. Paprika is also a rich source of beta-carotene (converted to Vitamin A in the body) which can help with age and sun spots. For a simple, detoxifying face mask, mix paprika with honey in a 1:2 ratio (ex. 1 tbsp paprika and 2 tbsp honey). Leave it on for about 20 minutes, then rinse off with warm water and pat dry. Paprika is a natural vasodilator (temporarily causes blood vessels to widen and increases blood circulation in the skin) so your skin is left with a warm, rosy glow!
